Just For Laughs – For Free!

There’s something magical and fun about being amongst a crowd of people, outdoors in the heart of the city and sitting down to play a game of Blokus underneath the stars.

The 2014 Just For Laughs Festival is well underway but if the idea of shelling out the big bucks to see A-List comics perform at the signature galas doesn’t appeal to you, an absolutely free stroll around the festival grounds can fill up your afternoon or evening and you won’t have to spend a dime.

The three outdoor stages host different musicians and events all day and night, with the main stage exploding with full out concerts when the lights go down (you may even get some fireworks). Street performers, from decked out Burlesque beauties to a suspiciously creepy man in a raincoat (gawd, I hope he was part of the festival), mingle with festival goers in the most unexpected and humorous of ways. I can’t remember the last time I danced to Elton John in the streets with a nun. It’s only ever happened the thrice.

That’s really just the start of the fun. There’s a labyrinth to get lost in and some spinning carnival style swings to enjoy. Feel like a laugh? Just watch the dizzy people coming off try to keep their balance and not throw-up – it’s all absolutely free!

I almost forgot to mention the panoramic bathroom. Have you ever dreamed of tinkling in a stall made of one way mirrors while you look out at festival-goers just feet away from your unirectional exhibitionism? Well, this is the festival for you!

Summer comes and goes so fast in our beautiful city and taking a stroll through a festival that promotes smiles and laughter just feels like a worthwhile way to celebrate the
nice weather so make sure to check out Just For Laughs before the festival winds down July 28th.
