Montreal comedian’s sketch comedy show proves too riské for TV

Adam Susser’s television show, Intensely Uncomfortable, was deemed too uncomfortable for community television, so Susser is bringing his show to the public on August 23 at Theatre St. Catherine.

“The final word was that it wasn’t community enough and was too “creepy”, which I can’t help but get a kick out of,” mused Susser.

His show was initially accepted by new community TV channel, Bell Local MTL, but was given the axe after production of three episodes.

The show was irreverent, different; in one episode Susser is on the corner of St. Catherine and Guy St. dressed in a squirrel costume trying to haggle money from people for his “Adopt a Squirrel Foundation.”

Susser isn’t deterred, nor did he leave Bell with a bad taste in his mouth.

“I can’t complain because even though they’re choosing not to air my show, I created the best work of my career to date with a professional team. Plus, I own the footage, so everything can be viewed on my website.”

Susser, who is a 10 year veteran of the Montreal stand up comedy scene, is choosing to celebrate with a screening premiere/stand up show, Intensely Uncomfortable Live, at Theatre St. Catherine on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Susser is no stranger to controversy; his web-series, An Evening to Remember with Adam Susser, which was originally produced for CUTV (Concordia University TV), was eventually forced to proceed independently after ruffling too many feathers at a Concordia organized feminist protest.

Intensely Uncomfortable Live! takes place Saturday, August 23rd, 9pm at Theatre St. Catherines.  Tickets: $15 at door or at www.theatrestecatherine.com
