Finalists Announced for JFL’s ‘Eat My Shorts’ Competition

Presented by Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network, Eat My Shorts is Just For Laugh’s annual competition showcasing some of the funniest new short films across North America. Five films have been selected to screen on July 26th at the Phi Centre, and the winning filmmaker(s) will receive distribution for their short as well as a $7,000 USD development deal with Laugh Out Loud.

Here’s a quick rundown of 2018’s Eat My Shorts finalists:

Curious Georgina

Director: Feraz Ozel

Starring: Helen Hong, Bobby Lee, Feraz Ozel

When Georgina finally decides to finally pursue her interest in dating women, things don’t quite go as planned.

 

Fowl Play

Directors: Rachel Cairns and Brendan Jeffers

Starring: Bendan Jeffers, Simu Liu, Farid Yazdani

A member of a boy band is confronted by the rest of the group for his terrible addiction– to chicken.

 

Sweet Revenge

Director: Pascal Atuma

Starring: Pascal Atuma, Nelson Morris, Naima Sundiata

Cultures clash when Nigerian parents meet their daughter’s boyfriend’s Jewish family.

Worry Warts

Directors: Laura Rudnicki and Lexy Paul

Starring: Sadaya Aiken, Ellis Audrey Cox-McAllister, Daniel Hentschel

The Application

Director: Brenda Saucedo

Gotta say, I think The Fowl is at the top of the heap. Silly premise, great execution. We’ll find out who actually takes the top prize when all five shorts screen on the 26th!
