Mobtreal Invades The ‘77 Montreal Punk Festival

On Friday July 28th, the Mobtreal crew had the opportunity to attend the  ‘77 Montreal punk festival which took place at the Jean Drapeau Island, more precisely on the island of Île Notre-Dame.

This festival celebrated the 40th anniversary of punk music, featuring famous local and international bands like: The Kingpins, Madball, Bouncing Souls, Barrasso, Pale Lips, The Creepshow, X (touring for their 40th anniversary), Genetic Control, Joyce Manor, Jake burns, The Vandals, and the headliners, who shared stage at the end of the night Dropkick Murphys and Rancid. The variety of these different music genres deriving from punk made justice to their event and lived truly by their idea of having an event made for everyone.

During the festival there were not only music, there was also a record sale, a poster exhibition, and screening of movies and documentaries that explored all the punk themes: from history and culture to fashion. ’77 MONTREAL was also an all-ages event. Children aged 10 years and younger were admitted for free when accompanied by an adult with a ticket.

The festival was brought by SiriusXM in collaboration with Coors Light.
