McSorley’s Wonderful Saloon & Grill

“It’s a merger of two atmospheres; an eclectic local bar and a family restaurant, with the emphasis on food value and fun for all” — Simon Hanlon (owner of McSorley’s Saloon)

Should you ever find yourself in the midst of Bayview in search of a cold and tasty brew–or even some pub grub, I suggest you take a trip over to this neighborhoods communally shared favorite hotspot; McSorley’s!  I happen to live about two minutes away from this gem and have been visiting here periodically for well over a couple years… I remember having one of my first legal drinks there and it being one of the greatest moments of my life.

So all in all, lots of memories made here. Although, if you happen to be allergic to peanuts, this probably isn’t the place for you– there are peanuts all over the floor– but nobody seems to really care, it’s one of the endearing and trademark qualities of this place. I’ve found this bar to be very inviting and comfortable. If you’re a fan of sports coming here to watch the game is awesome because everyone is really into it, plus there are even 5 big screen TVs to view from– take your pick! I’m pretty sure that anyone that has ever come here and always come back at least a second time afterwards, if not, more. Most of the bar staff know everyone who comes in by name so that should say a lot about this place. Like I said, It’s a neighborhood fave! Every day of the week they have a special on, and their delicious wings are a fantastic treat and great way to cap off your Monday after work. The best part about dining here is the affordability factor, no doubt. The McSorley’s kitchen serves right up until 2am!

Historically speaking, Simon Hanlon and John Anderson first established McSorley’s Saloon and Grill in the year 1991 and it has since than sky rocketed in terms of it’s local residential popularity. It’s also a great place to make new friends. McSorley’s offers an extensive array of delicious food, and a selection of 19 draught beers on tap (not to mention $5.50 tall boy cans as well.) If you’re a fan of billiard pool tables, they have one at the back of the bar… and sometimes if you’re really lucky they keep the table open so you don’t have to pay to play.

One of my favorite events they hold is on the second last Thursday of every month they bring singer/songwriter Shawn Brady in to perform and after like, 3 times of seeing him live there I can honestly say that he NEVER disappoints. His voice is amazing, and he really knows how to pump up a crowd.

The (rather hilarious) motto McSorley’s sticks by is “Service, quality, price– Pick any two!”

Come to McSorley’s where the food is always good, the beer is always ice cold, and the bar staff are expedient and very friendly! McSorley’s Wonderful Saloon is just that– a wonderful saloon! Also, I should add that this is a very kid friendly environment, and a PERFECT place to dine with the family, and is open 7 days a week from 11am-2am. It’s location is 1544 Bayview Ave.
