8th Annual Sketch Comedy Festival

sketch41

Back for another year, the 2013 edition of Montreal’s Sketch Comedy Festival will host troupes from Montreal, Toronto, New York, Chicago, Calgary, Australia and more! A celebration of underground comedy, this is the festival for emerging talents and local juggernauts. Take a look at this preview with someone I’ve grown to love, Hank.

There’s one thing to watch sketches on YouTube or Vimeo. To see them live is just not the same. But really, not the same. The wit that comes from being a good improviser is serious. Watching it unravel before your eyes is just 100% pure fun! With the help of costumes, music, lights and jokes you have the perfect concoction for silly and witty entertainment. Even if you don’t like sketch comedy that much, these are the pros coming out with the big guns!  Trust me, your night(s) out will be memorable.

The Festival provides a showcase for local, national, and international artists in the heart of Montreal’s entertainment district. Independent troupes attempt to prove themselves and battle for the Giant Piece of Bark Award (BEST OF THE FEST). Alumni includes Montreal legends Kidnapper Films, Uncalled For and Toronto greats Elephant Empire and Ladystache.
