Come celebrate Fierté Montréal Pride 2016

Fierté Montréal (aka Montreal Pride) Week has started and we are very excited!

Established in 2007, after the city’s prior Pride festival, Divers/Cité, became a general arts and music festival, Fierté Montréal became Montreal’s annual celebration of diversity. Montreal Pride takes place in the Gay Village, where a section of St.Catherine closes to vehicles, allowing pedestrians to enjoy the view of the beautifully decorated neighbourhood. Everyone from all parts of the rainbow are welcome to come together to participate in the many events, there is no space for discrimination here.

Fierté Montréal festival is the largest LGBT event in Montreal and one of the biggest in North America. The festival is seven consecutive days, this year starting August 8th and ending August 14th.

The main event of Fierté Montréal includes the annual défilé (Montreal Pride Parade) on René Lévesque Boulevard. This year is going to be extra special because Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be joining the streets. This makes him the first Prime Minister to walk with the parade.
