The Making of “Warm Mess”

Premiering as the closing show of the 2015 SOLOS Festival, The Making of “Warm Mess” is a comedy starring tender-hearted drooly bear, ice cream dreamer, fumblin’ rock n roll fool, vivacious groover Hamhock Velvet. Adapted from a solo show into a two-hander, The Making of “Warm Mess” now features local improv titan David Kaufman taking on multiple roles and backing music by sonic luminary Leskalade.

Renowned for their lo-fi brand of humpty-dumptruck rock n roll, Hamhock Velvet & The Silky Pillows got their big break with their classic album “Warm Mess,” which featured beloved singles such as “Boo Hoo Forever,” “Curious Porridge” and “Bidetdreaming.” Since then, The Silky Pillows have fluffed off and now almost 50 years later, Hamhock Velvet sits down to share the hilariously bizarre story of the band’s cosmic journey and how the elements came together (and ultimately fell apart) during the making of “Warm Mess.”

Lar Vi does stand-up comedy around town, performs improv with troupes such as GROSS! and Avocado Guacamole at Montreal Improv, does sketch comedy with Dink Floyd, GROSS! and Hamhock Velvet, who appeared in the Montreal Sketchfest this past May.

As creative director of Wolfinger Productions, Lar has written and performed in award-nominated Montreal Fringe Festival shows, The Shadow Waltz (2014) and Total Liquidation (2015), which was remounted this year at Theatre Ste. Catherine in February. The Making of “Warm Mess” debuted at SOLOS Festival in November 2015 and she is excited to release this new and reworked incarnation at the 2016 Montreal Fringe Festival!
