Still looking for that perfect Christmas gift? Need something to get you into the holiday spirit? Looking for an activity to do with the family?

On the steps of Place Des Arts (Metro: Place Des Arts) you’ll find a European inspired Christmas Village open December 12 – January 2, 2015. It’s completely free and open until about 11pm daily (except Christmas day ).

You’ll find dozens of winter inspired kiosks selling everything from local artisan apple-cider (to sample or take home, gift wrapped options available) to homemade cake lollipops.

Stay warm over an open fire while sipping on some warm hot chocolate – or maybe some hot wine? You’ll also find kiosks offering alcoholic and non-alcoholic favourites to keep you toasty while you explore the beautifully decorated Christmas Village.

There’s plenty of entertainment as well. Whether it’s a live-dj, different daily carollers singing (check schedule), or playing board games inside the giant igloo.

While you’re in the heart of the city, take advantage of all the Holiday magic going on just steps away.

At the entrance to the village, you’ll find “Luminotherapie” – a collection of see-saws that light up and play music as you ride them. Step into the warmth of Place-Des-Arts and take in some free art and a story at “À la poursuite du Loup-Garou“, a free exhibit that utilizes art and music to bring this old Quebecois children’s story to life.

Looking to get out of the cold for a bit?  Have the kids (or the big kids) take a train ride, a trip on the merry-go-round or meet Santa just next door at Complexe Desjardins.

Either way, there’s something for everyone in the heart of this great city to get you in the festive spirit – and most importantly, it doesn’t have to cost you a penny! None of the activities listed above charge an admission fee. Take advantage of the warm weather, get out of the house and make some holiday magic!
