Bigger than ever! Just For Laughs 2015 Line up is packed full
There were several exciting announcements made this morning at the Just For Laugh’s press conference. The theme was “bigger than ever!” If you’re anything like me, I imagine what you want most is just a list of all the performers announced so far. So without too much preamble, voila!
To get things started, An Evening with MIke Myers! This is a his FIRST time ever at Just for Laughs (how is that possible?). He will be talking about his journey to becoming one of the worlds most memorable movie stars. Next, living legend Dave Chappelle who is back with 6 shows. Kevin Hart will be filling up the Bell Centre, 10,000 tickets already sold, you best be getting yours soon if you don’t want to miss out.
So far only 3 gala hosts have been announced. As it goes, the legen-wait for it-dary Neil Patrick Harris is the host with the most award show hosting experience, but we’re sure the man has more tricks in his hat yet. Then there’s Trevor Noah, getting a bit of hosting practice in before taking over The Daily Show. Finally, Jane Lynch rounds out the gala hosts announced thus far, but 6 more hosts will be added in coming weeks, so keep an eye out.
This years solo shows are not to be missed. Bill Burr, Patton Oswalt, Sebastian Maniscalco, Reggie Watts, Margaret Cho, Danny Bhoy, Chris Hardwick, Rob Schneider, Omid Djalili, Natasha Leggero, Michael Che, Sarah Millican, and Pete Holmes.
Talk of the Fest also has a great list of hosts, and it seems as they learned from last year, as the hosts are actually comedians which suits this gig better (from my observations). On the docket is TJ Miller, Chris D’Elia, Pete Davidson, and Jerrod Carmichael.
The Off-JFL series is where it’s at for many comedy nerds who prefer their comics off-leash and to get a more intimate experience. These hilarious weirdos will deliver just that: Wyatt Cenac, Hasan Minhaj, Colin Jost, Janeane Garofalo, Ari Shaffir, Harland Williams, Tom Segura, Jen Kirkman, Duncan Trussell, Chris Gethard, Eric André, Andy Kindler, Brian Posehn, Rhys Darby, Eddie Pepitone, Jake and Amir, Sabrina Jalees, Kurt Braunohler, Moshe Kasher, Joel Creasey, Kyle Kinane, Tom Papa, Brent Morin, Orny Adams.
Off-JFL is also going to have multi-comic shows The Goddamn Comedy Jam with host Josh Adam Meyers, and This Is Not Happening with host Ari Shaffir. Also new, is having an Instagrambassador, with Instagram favorite @fuckjerry, who from July 22-25 will curate a multi-comic show and a closing night party.
Let’s not forget the club shows now. The Ethnic Show will run July 8-19 at Club Soda, hosted by Alonzo Bodden and showcasing Gina Yashere, Ahmed Ahmed, Frank Spadone, Ronny Chieng, Dan Naturman, and Rachid Badouri. The Nasty Show will be at Metropolis July 16-18 and 23-25, hosted by Mike Ward and featuring Gilbert Gottfried, Jimmy Carr, Mike Wilmot and Tiffany Haddish. Finally, Tom Papa is to join forces with Brent Morin, Orny Adams and Debra DiGiovanni for Date Night at Metropolis July 21 and 22.
Last but not least, one can’t forget the biggest English outdoor FREE show of the festival, on July 21 “Weird Al” Yankovic will be singing your favourite pop parodies.
