Val Thomas to release new EP Hymnal and single “Mercy” with official music video on June 17th

Montreal, May 25th, 2022 – 3 months after the release of her most recent single “Last Drop”, Val Thomas returns with her new EP Hymnal due out on June 17th. The single “Mercy” will come out the same day and will be accompanied by an official music video.

Following the release of her debut EP Chronicles From The Cave in 2017, the Montreal-based folk singer-songwriter Val Thomas enjoyed strong attention from media and festivals.

On the Hymnal EP, Val Thomas collaborated with some of Montreal’s finest talents, including Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes), Brad Barr (The Barr Brothers) and Kento Kataoka (Clerel). The EP includes four tracks: “Gold Ship”, “Mercy”, “Last Drop” (2022), “Where We Are” (2021). Hymnal highlights with versality and imagination the seasons of change towards renewal.

Recorded during the pandemic, the single “Mercy” is an optimistic call for grace to bring joy and rhythm back to life. The official music video takes us deep into the studio as the musicians lay down the song, having reunited after so many months apart. “Mercy” is a groovy summer track that celebrates new beginnings.
